This is the room we were most excited to get done. We decided that when it was done we would just move in. We could live without a working kitchen but we needed a shower!
We gutted everything in this room and started over. The tub, the sink, the toilet, the wall linoleum, the flooring was all taken out. Everyone helped with this demolition in one way or another. The ceiling was textured with 1970s inspired swirls so after we did the first demolition that was the next thing to go. Another layer of putty was added to cover it up then added another ceiling texture, this was my project to tackle. The tile that was given to us by my parents was laid and grouted to us by my talented Dad. We decided to add in bead board to replace the wall linoleum, the walls looked to bad to fix. This was done by the Dave, Brady and Tanner team. New floor moldings were put in by Dave. Lori helped get them painted and ready to place. The top of the walls were in better shape then the bottom half of the walls but they still needed a ton of repair. Luckily my Mom is an expert at wall repair! Paint was applied, I choose to stay subtle on the wall colors in case I ever wanted to change out the accent color!
I was most picky about the tub on this project. I needed to have a claw foot tub. I felt it fit the year our house was built, which is 1902, also I thought it would just make sense in the space. The Room is quite small. My Dad found it for me at an antique shop for a steal of $100, we painted the feet to match the silver hardware I ordered from amazon. This also made it so we could use the tub as a working shower, cute and functional! The shower curtain rod was a little tricky to figure out, but luckily we had Grandpa Griffin to help us with that. I am in love with my tub it really does make the room feel so much bigger.
